FREE Live Concert, Family Movie, and Art Event in Keller — Thursdays through June 26

Keller Summer Nights Logo

The city of Keller is pleased to present Keller Summer Nights, a Thursday evening of FREE live music, family movies, & art!  The evening will kick off on the front lawn of the Keller Town Hall at 7:15pm with a weekly lineup of fantastic local bands — see entertainment schedule below.  At 9:00pm take in the Thursday family fun film on the back lawn.  You’ll also be able to enjoy the artist tents set up along the avenue during the event.

The event is family friendly and open to audiences of all ages. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic dinners, leashed pets, and snacks and drinks to enjoy (no glass please).

The weekly entertainment lineup includes:

  • THURSDAY, JUNE 12 
    Live Music: Ricki Derek and the Vegas Six
    ~ “To hear Ricki sing, you would think ‘Old Blue Eyes’ was there crooning the standards of yesteryear. Always dressed for the occasion, Ricki makes you feel like you’ve got a front row ticket to an old school show.”  This will be a fun show!
    Movie: Despicable Me 2 (PG)
  • THURSDAY, JUNE 19
    Live Music: Whiskey Folk Ramblers ~ “Like the soundtrack to a spaghetti western set in the Dust Bowl, Whiskey Folk’s ‘folk noir’ blends ominous, reverb-dripping guitars with boot-stomping train beats.”
    Movie: Bedtime Stories (PG)
  • THURSDAY, JUNE 26
    Live Music:
    Fox and the Bird  ~ “A folk-pop band with gang vocals and layered harmonies, Fox and the Bird is a choral collective of ratating songwriters and singers. The band’s characteristically rich orchestration is hitched to banjos, accordions, ukuleles & fiddles.”

Join your family and friends at this weekend’s FREE concert at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington – part of their packed summer series of free music, dance and performing arts under the stars. The Friday evening concert (June 21) headlines Texas country music favorite, Sara Hickman, and Saturday’s concert features Texas Radio Hall of Fame legends and eight-time Grammy nominees, The Light Crust Doughboys.

Be sure to bring along a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Snacks or a picnic dinner, and beverages are allowed, but no glass containers, please.

Friday nights over Lake Grapevine will sparkle with spectacular fireworks each Friday through the summer (now through Labor day). If you want to add some extra fun to your family evening, plan to view the fireworks from the Gaylord Texan Resort parking garage roof ~ a great viewing platform, and they will have a music DJ, games for kids, giveaways, and food and beverages for purchase.

FREE Kids Splash Day: Outdoor Water Fun in Keller ~ Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Get ready to beat the heat with three hours of FREE summer fun in the sun at Splash Day!  This fun event is for kids of all ages, birth through 6th grade. There will be a special section for preschoolers so they can play and have fun at their speed, while the big kids race down big slides like the Giant Marlin and the Tropical Slip and Slide. Yummy kid food like hot dogs and pizza will be available for purchase, too. Be sure to wear your swim suit, bring your friends, some sunscreen and a towel.  It is free and it will be fun ~ you don’t want to miss this water blast!

Ballet Concerto’s free summer dance concert in Trinity Park, recognized by Fort Worth Weekly as Fort Worth’s “Best Outdoor Cultural Event,” brings ballet and other forms of dance to North Texas. Featured dancers come from well-known ballet companies such as New York City Ballet, Dayton Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater,  and Ballet Arizona.

The Keller Public Arts Program is pleased to present its fourth annual Jazz in June Concert Series, returning to the front lawn of Keller Town Hall at 7:30 p.m., Thursday evenings. The concerts are free and open to audiences of all ages. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic dinners, leashed pets, and snacks and drinks to enjoy (no glass please).

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help them learn a new woodworking skill and build their very own organizer to take home. Each Kids Workshop participant will receive a kid-sized orange apron (similar to a Home Depot associate apron) and an achievement pin. All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.

The Circus is Coming To Keller, August 26 & 27

Register to win a family 4-pack of tickets to Circo Del Rey, the “Circus of the King,” a high-energy spectacular that features incredible high-wire acts, the death-defying Motorcycle Cage of Death, astonishing illusions and much more.  Circo Del Rey is not a traditional 3-ring circus. It is a story-oriented experience, much like Cirque du Soleil.  In fact, many of the performers are Cirque du Soleil members, appearing in their off-time with Circo Del Rey!

There will be 3 Circo Del Rey performances and tickets are as low as $7 each ~ a cheap outing for the whole family. Grab the picnic basket and lawn chairs and head to one of the many FREE July 4th holiday celebrations for Fort Worth, Dallas and the surrounding areas.  We’ve compiled ist of 15 of the best FREE fireworks shows and DFW community family events including dates, times, and other details you might like to know, here.

A few of our favorites include:  

  •  Stars & Stripes Southlake Fireworks Show (July 3)
    If fireworks Sunday evening fits into your plans, pop by Southlake’s family event on the Square.  They’ll have live Big Band and other live music, face painting, and even an F-16 Flyover! Don’t miss out on our favorite local ice cream ~ Milwaukee Joe’s Ice Cream while you are there (yum!!!)!
  • City of Fort Worth’s Fourth Of July Fireworks (July 4)
    Features an evening of live music, family activities, jet ski performances on the Trinity River, and of course an amazing
    fireworks show! You’ll also have the opportunity to float down the Trinity River (free tubes and kayaks provided).
  • Granbury Old-Fashioned 4th of July (July 1-4)
    The whole city gets involved with an all weekend celebration
    including, live Big Band music and a dance, vintage car show,
    fireworks over the lake and lots more. Voted one of the top 5 Best
    Fireworks shows in Texas.

:: FREE Concert Series at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington
   Friday to Sunday, July 1-3, 2011

Join your family and friends at this weekends FREE concerts at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington – part of Levitt Pavilion’s 50 nights of free music, dance and performing arts under the stars. The entertainment schedule includes a wide span of music genres including jazz, pop, latin, country and even special events just for kids.

The Friday evening concert (July 1) features one of our favorite local bands The Killdares – a fantastic blend of rock, pop, and celtic sound.  Saturday’s concert (July 2) brings to the stage bluesy-soulsy favorite Mingo Fishtrap (previously performed with performed with such artists as Sting and Blues Traveler). Lyrical country musician, Radney Foster (July 3) rounds out the concert weekend of music.  Sunday’s concert will also feature the Light Up Arlington fireworks at 9:45 p.m. (concert will continue after the fireworks).
