Fort Worth & Dallas Summer Reading Programs = FREE Books & Other Great Rewards for Kids

With the end of school upon us, Moms and Dads may be wondering how to fill the summer days with fun activities for the kids. One idea ~ incorporate a regular reading program! Not only do you help your children learn to enjoy reading and sharpen their skills, they can earn lots of FREE books and prizes, too (like iPads and computers)!

Following are several summer programs that will reward your kids with GREAT FREEBIES for their reading efforts and most of these kick off this week:

:: City Library Reading Programs
Fort Worth library system, as well as several surrounding community libraries have reading programs that also offer great prizes ~ from FREE Rangers tickets (Arlington) to a Netbook Computer (Fort Worth). In Euless, even adults can win prizes for their reading efforts. Most of these summer library programs have a fun list of events and other reading activities worth checking out as well. Take a look at these city library reading programs:

Fort Worth: Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge
Arlington: Summer Reading Club for Kids
Southlake: Summer Reading Club
Denton: Summer Reading Club
Euless: Catch the Reader Express

:: Barnes & Noble Imagination’s Destination
What: Earn a FREE Book from Barnes & Noble this summer!
How: To get the free book, read any 8 books this summer (the books can be from the library or anywhere else). Print and fill out the B&N reading journal, and then bring the completed form into any Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
Who: B&N’s summer reading program is for kids through 6th grade.
When: May 22 through September 4 or until supplies run out.

:: Pottery Barn Kids Summer Reading Challenge
What: Take part in Pottery Barn’s reading program and qualify for a FREE Book! Go here for more details.
How: You will receive the free book when your child reads and completes one of Pottery Barn Kids’s book lists (here), and then brings the completed form into any Pottery Barn Kids store. These books can be checked out from the library system, if you prefer, and do not have to be purchased.
Who: Pottery Barn’s reading list is designed for kids who can read independently. The Early Reader list is designed for reading together with younger children.
When: Now through August 31, 2012 or until supplies run out.

:: Half Price Books Feed Your Brain Reading Program
What: Earn a FREE $5 Back to School Bucks Gift Certificate from Half Price Books. Go here for more details.
How: To get the free gift card, read a total of 300 minutes (they suggest breaking it into 15 minute reading sessions each day). Print and fill out the reading log, and then bring the completed log to any Half Price Books Store.
Who: For kids aged 14 and under.
When: Back-to-School Bucks coupon valid July 25 to August 31.

:: H.E.Buddy Summer Reading Club
What: Earn a FREE t-shirt from H.E.B. when your child reads 10 books. Learn more here.
How: To get the free prize, read any 10 books this summer. Print and fill out the reading journal, and then mail it to the address on the form.
Who: The program does not specify the age, but t-shirts available are sized youth extra small (2-4) to youth extra large (18-20).
When: Form must be postmarked by October 1.

The Circus is Coming To Keller, August 26 & 27

Register to win a family 4-pack of tickets to Circo Del Rey, the “Circus of the King,” a high-energy spectacular that features incredible high-wire acts, the death-defying Motorcycle Cage of Death, astonishing illusions and much more. Circo Del Rey is not a traditional 3-ring circus. It is a story-oriented experience, much like Cirque du Soleil. In fact, many of the performers are Cirque du Soleil members, appearing in their off-time with Circo Del Rey!

There will be 3 Circo Del Rey performances and tickets are as low as $7 each ~ a cheap outing for the whole family. One winner will receive TWO (2) Tickets to the Texas Rangers vs. The Royals Game, Sunday ~ May 29, 2011 at 2:00PM AND one (1) Parking Pass Voucher at the Rangers Ballpark In Arlington, TX. The tickets and parking pass have no cash value.

This giveaway ends at 12:30PM CST on Friday, May 27, 2011. Odds of winning depend on number of entries. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only, 18 years old or over. The winner will be chosen using Random.org to select the winning entry from all qualified submissions. The winner will be notified by email and will need to respond before 5:00PM CST on Friday, May 27th so that we can confirm details about how to claim your prize. The prize will overnighted to the mailing address provided by the winner in the registration form, for arrival on Saturday, May 28, 2011.

Kids Summer Reading Programs = FREE Books & More Great Rewards

As the end of school approaches, you may be wondering how you can fill
the summer days with fun activities for the kids. One idea ~ incorporate a
regular reading program! Not only do you help your children learn to enjoy
reading and sharpen their skills, they can earn lots of FREE books and prizes, too (like Texas Rangers Tickets)!

Following are several summer programs that will reward your kids with GREAT FREEBIES for their reading efforts:

:: Borders Double Dog Dare Summer Reading Program
What: Take part in Border’s reading program and get 1 FREE Book from Border’s Bookstores! Go here for more details.
How: To get the free book, read any 10 books this summer (these can even be from the library). Print and fill out this form, and then bring the completed form into any Borders, Borders Express, or Waldenbooks.
Who: Border’s Summer reading program is for kids aged 12 and under.
When: June 1 through September 5, 2011 or until supplies run out.

:: Barnes & Noble Imagination Destination Reading Program
What: Earn a FREE Book from Barnes & Noble this summer!
Learn more here.
How: To get the free book, read any 8 books this summer (again, they can be from anywhere). Print and fill out the B&N reading journal, and then
bring the completed form into any Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
Who: B&N’s summer reading program is for kids through 6th grade.
When: May 24 through September 6, 2011 or until supplies run out.

:: Half Price Books Feed Your Brain Reading Program
What: Earn a FREE $5 Back to School Bucks Gift Certificate from Half Price Books. Go here for more details.
How: To get the free gift card, read a total of 600 minutes (they suggest breaking it into 15 minute reading sessions each day). Print and fill out the reading log, and then bring the completed log to any Half Price Books Store.
Who: For kids aged 14 and under.
When: Read June 1 to July 31, 2011 and redeem July 25 through August 7, 2011.

:: H.E.Buddy Summer Reading Club
What: Earn a FREE t-shirt from H.E.B. when your child reads 10 books. Learn more here.
How: To get the free prize, read any 10 books this summer. Print and fill out the reading journal, and then mail it to the address on the form.
Who: The program does not specify the age, but t-shirts available are sized youth extra small (2-4) to youth extra large (18-20).
When: Form must be postmarked by October 1.

:: City Library Reading Programs
Fort Worth library system, as well as several surrounding community libraries have reading programs that also offer great prizes ~ from FREE Rangers tickets (Arlington) to a Netbook Computer (Fort Worth). In Denton, adults can even win prizes for their reading efforts. Most of these summer library programs have a fun list of events and other reading activities worth checking out as well. The winner gets to select their favorite jacket design, (retail value up to $180) from hundreds of jackets at the Sharon Young Fall Collection Warehouse Sale (Learn more about this “don’t miss” sale here). And, to top things off, the winner and 5 of their friends will receive a VIP invitation to attend a private sale preview event!

I’ve included a few representative pictures, but I’m just scratching the surface of the hundreds of jackets available.

Prize Details for Giveaway

One (1) Jacket, retail value up to $180. The winner will get to choose ANY jacket from the literally hundreds of gorgeous choices available at the Sharon Young Fall Warehouse Sale.
Six (6) Invitations to a private preview of the sale. As a winner, you and 5 of YOUR friends will also get a FREE VIP invitation to a private preview sale (Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010), giving you a chance to pick out your jacket and get ahead of the crowds before clothes are flying off the racks. The public sale starts the next day ( more details here). Of course if you win, you can pick out your jacket, then too.
