The 2018 Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off today, and we are back to give you the full scoop on how to get discount or even FREE tickets to this favorite annual event (daily through February 3). Here’s how:

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s 23 day event opens its doors today with a schedule packed full of premier livestock shows, daily rodeo (extra ticket needed), live musical entertainment, petting zoo, family friendly exhibits, and lots more. There are fun activities for the whole family, and the list of exhibits and events is fresh each day.

Plan ahead and you can get Stock Show grounds admission for FREE or even 50% OFF rodeo tickets. Here’s how to save:

1.  FREE Grounds Admission, Tuesday, January 16 (Dickies Day) ~ Wear your Dickies logoed clothing item to the gate ticket office and receive FREE general admission to the Stock Show grounds.  Tuesday, January 16 only — learn more here.

2. FREE Grounds Admission for TCU Fans & 50% OFF Rodeo Tickets for TCU Students & Staff, Thursday, January 25 (TCU Day) ~ Wear any TCU  logoed gear on TCU day to receive FREE general admission to the Stock show grounds (rodeo performance not included). TCU students with a valid/current TCU I.D. can also get $10 rodeo tickets (regularly $22) for performances on this day. Learn more here

3. FREE Grounds Admission AND Rodeo for Military Appreciation Day, Monday, January 29 ~ Present your military ID (active or retired) at the Rodeo Ticket Box Office and receive FREE tickets to the Rodeo (includes Grounds admission) for you and your immediate family for the 2:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. performance (you can get your tickets now!).  Thank you for your service! 4. Fridays, 50% OFF Admission for SeniorsSenior citizens age 65 and over will be admitted to the Stock Show grounds every Friday throughout the show for $5  — that’s 50% OFF general admission January 12, 19, 26 and February 2, 2018.

Multiday Souvenir Pin / Pass (savings on multiple days) ~ While supplies last, the Stock Show and Rodeo has a special souvenir pin that you can purchase that nicely lowers the cost if you will be visiting the Stock Show for more than 4 days. With this $40 per person deal, you get a souvenir pin that provides daily ground admission, admission to 3 Museums (see info on the Moo-seum experience below), entrance to all livestock and horse shows during the entire 23 days of the show and more. Do note that you do need to plan to attend at least 5 days for this to be a savings. Learn more here.

6.  FREE Stock Show Grounds Admission For Museum Members ~ If you’re a member of The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, or the Cattle Raisers’ Museum you can get into the Stock Show Grounds for FREE any day. Museum members must present  their current Museum Membership card and photo ID at a Stock Show ticket booth to receive free entry.  Learn more here.

7.  Special Cowboys & Culture Moo-seum bonus (love this!) ~ For the 7th straight year, bring your Stock Show ticket with you to get FREE admission to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, or the Cattle Raisers’ Museum — January 12 to February 3. 8. 50% OFF Parking on Saturdays & Sundays ~ Parking is normally $12, but on Saturdays and Sundays, visitors can take the $5 Rodeo Redline park & ride shuttle from the lot just north of Billy Bob’s in the Stockyards. Festivities start at 4:00pm — watch for Toy Soldier stilt walkers, beloved cast members of The Nutcracker ballet, and sing-a-long to holiday carols, before a visit with Saint Nick, himself. After the lighting, kids can get their picture taken with Santa too!

FREE Admission To All National Parks — November 11

The National Parks Service is offering FREE entrance to over 400 parks Friday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day. As part of the free entrance day, you can enjoy over 400 National Parks for FREE. Do note that not all National Parks charge fees, but those that do will waive their cost on this day (for example, $25 a car at Big Bend or $20 a car at Rocky Mountain National Park).

What: Kaboom Town in Addison
Rated one of the top places to watch fireworks in the country by the American Pyrotechnics Association, USA Today, Travel + Leisure and The Wall Street Journal, the nationally recognized fireworks show can be seen from anywhere in Addison.  The 30-minute fireworks show is choreographed to music and a live radio simulcast on 100.3 JACK FM. Plus there is food, live music and the spectacular Addison Airport Air Show with skydivers and more.

What: Light Up Arlington Fireworks Show

What: City of Burleson’s Independence Day Celebration
Live rock concert by Journey Tribute Band, “Escape,” and fireworks show.

Dallas
What: Fair Park Fourth Celebration

The City of Dallas’ official Independence Day celebration at Fair Park will feature  spectacular fireworks at the Cotton Bowl, “dancing water” shows at the Esplanade Fountain, entertainment, kids activities, midway games, and a variety of live music. Access to concession stands will be available throughout Fair Park.
Where: Fair Park in Dallas ~ 1121 First Ave • Dallas
When: July 4 ~ 9:00AM to 10:00PM. Fireworks start at 9:30PM.

Flower Mound
What: Independence Day Festival & Fireworks Show
This fun family event features live music from legendary 80s rock band, Loverboy, the Lewisville ISD children’s parade, Kid’s Zone activities (complete with bounce houses, face painting, and more), vintage auto show, and a great fireworks show!

When: July 4, Children’s Parade begins at 10:00AM, Gates for the festival activities will open at 5PM and fireworks begin at dusk.

Fort Worth Fourth Fireworks

Fort Worth
What: Fort Worth’s Fourth Family Event
This fireworks show promises to be one of the largest and best in the metroplex! It offers an evening of free music, family fun, F-16 flyover, flyboard shows, zipline, bounce houses, miniature golf, festival food, huge fireworks display, and lots more! You can even cool off in the Trinity River with kayaking and free river-tubing — tubes are free but supplies are limited, so feel free to bring your own.
When: July 4, Festival and shows starts at 2:00PM.  Fireworks shoot off at 10:00PM. See the complete schedule here.

Local Traffic Tips: With an anticipated crowd of more than 100,000 for the various Fort Worth 4th of July events, the Fort Worth Police Department has put together a traffic plan to make it quicker and safer to get to and from Panther Island (or other downtown Fort Worth event locations).  Go here to learn more.

Fort Worth Stockyards
What: 4th of July Family Event at the Stockyards
Celebrate the Fourth in the Fort Worth Stockyards! Activities include face-painting for kids, live music, and a Legends of Texas gunfight show after each cattle drive — all inside Stockyards Station!

Frisco
What: Frisco Freedom Fest
Fireworks, food, live music, children’s activities (bounce house, games, face painting, etc.), 5K run, street entertainment, and more.  Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair and for the fireworks show.
Where: Simpson Plaza at City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.  Fireworks are visible around Frisco City Hall and Toyota Stadium (the corner of Dallas Parkway and Main Street).
When: July 4, Begins at 4:00PM, Fireworks at 10:00PM (approx.)

Granbury
What: Granbury Old-Fashioned 4th of July Weekend Celebration

What: 34th Annual Fireworks Extravaganza

Celebrate America’s birthday at Grapevine’s July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza! Be prepared to be astonished by the 26-minute fireworks spectacular, which can be viewed from almost any lakeside location as well as several other places throughout Grapevine including Gaylord Texan Resort’s parking garage (with a parking fee), Admission is free at most viewing locations. 
Where:
Best fireworks viewing locations are Oak Grove Park and Rockledge Park on Lake Grapevine (map here) or on top of the parking garage at the Gaylord Texan Resort — our favorite spot, but there is a parking fee.
Local Traffic Tips:  In the interest of public safety, the City of Grapevine will be shutting down Fairway Drive between State Highway 26 E. and Silveron Blvd. on July 4th. beginning at 9 p.m. Additionally, parking along Fairway Drive will be prohibited.
When: July 4, Fireworks start at 9:30PM
Cost: FREE! Note that some parks along Lake Grapevine, as well as the Gaylord Texan, charge an admission fee of $5 to $15 per vehicle (good news — most parks are free).  Also, note that a few parks (info here) are closed due to high waters.

Irving/Las Colinas
What: Irving’s Firecracker Fourth
Join the City of Irving for the annual two-part celebration of America’s independence.  The fun begins with a community parade followed by a reception at Heritage Park.  Finish the day with an evening festival, showcasing live music, food, a Fun Zone, and fireworks spectacular.
Where: Go here for the parade route.  Fireworks will take place on the south side of  Lake Carolyn ~ 601 E. Las Colinas Blvd. For the updated fireworks show parking map, go here.

What: Red White & Lewisville Fireworks Show
The city’s annual fireworks show, Red White & Lewisville, will return with a pow and flash on Monday, July 4.
Where: For Fireworks, the best viewing area is on the south side of Vista Ridge Mall, between the mall and  State Highway 121.
When: July 4, The show is scheduled to start after sunset, about 9:30 p.m.
Cost: FREE!

Open-format sessions join art-making and gallery activities to encourage fresh ways of looking at and responding to featured artworks and themes. Teens and adults can sign up at the entrance to the education studios in the Renzo Piano Pavilion beginning one hour before the program. Do note that you may want to arrive early to sign up as space is very limited.

Granbury will kick off summer this Memorial Day Weekend in 50s style! The Historic Granbury Merchants Association presents Cruisin’ Granbury, a festival dedicated to the era of cool cars and rock and roll. May 28-30, visitors will enjoy live music, dancing, classic car show, kids carnival rides, and even an Elvis tribute!  On Monday, extend a well-deserved “thank you” to America’s veterans by joining the city of Granbury for their traditional Memorial Day Veteran’s weekend ceremony.

Come take advantage of our super high powered telescope and view the stars like you’ve never seen them before. An instructor will teach you new constellations, and you’ll observe planets which can’t be seen with the naked eye. Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, snacks, and drinks. Only red lights will be permitted as not to detract from the luminosity of the sky (no phones, flashlights, lamps etc).

Join the Sid Richardson Museum in Sundance Square for this FREE exhibition that traces the path of Lonesome Dove from Larry McMurtry’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel to the original screenplay and filming of the legendary TV miniseries. The exhibition is part of a 6-month citywide celebration, known as ”The Lonesome Dove Trail,” which will include multiple Fort Worth venues including screenings, seminars and a reunion gala of the cast and crew including Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones and more.
