In the Market for Fresh Produce? Here’s your Source ~ Links to TDA CERTIFIED Locally Grown Farmers Markets

                                                  Farmers Market

One of my favorite things about summer is all the wonderful fresh fruits
and veggies from our hard working local farmers.  If those aisles and piles
of produce bring a smile to your face too, you just might enjoy this “reprint”
post from our blog last year.

                                                                      ::

 I just learned that the Texas Department of Agriculture certifies Farmers’
Markets all over Texas! Who knew?

I also discovered a couple of helpful links that make it simple to find these
markets and the freshest locally grown produce.

Note: Some markets are seasonal and certain products are subject to availability. Always check before making the trip.

New to Groupon?  You are in for a treat!

Groupon offers a daily deal on local goods, services and cultural events across the country. Fort Worth is the 51st city launch for Groupon, and in the last month, I’ve seen their offers include everything from 50% Off Nothing Bundt Cakes to 60% Off Spa Services to 55% Off carpet cleaning ~ and seemingly everything in between!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Each day Groupon features a great deal at an unbeatable price.

Summer Movie Mania 2010 Kids Series Roundup – Beat the Heat AND High Movie Prices!

Movies

Get out of the summer heat and have some fun with the kids with these cheap (or FREE!) Fort Worth area summer movie series.
There are lots of family friendly movies to choose from including Charlotte’s Web, Wallace and Gromit, Ice Age, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and many more!  Following is a roundup of local kids movies series to check out:

:: HARKINS SUMMER MOVIE FUN
Harkins Theatres in Southlake is bringing back its 10-week Summer Movie Fun Program, Monday Through Friday, from June 7  through August 13, 9:45AM. It’s as low as 50 cents a movie ($5 for 10 movies or $2 for individual tickets). Find details and a list of scheduled movies at harkinstheatres.com.

:: REGAL THEATRES
Regal theatres is offering nine weeks (June 8 to August 4) of fun-filled movies for kids and parents, and best of all it’s FREE!  Selected movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday.  Tickets are available at the box office on the day of the show and are first-come, first-served seating.   In Fort Worth, you’ll find the Family Free Festival at:   Fossil Creek Stadium 11  and Eastchase Stadium 9. For listings in Dallas, click here.

Tip:  I have heard from several moms that this movie series gets crowded since it is free & first come, first served.  You will want to get there early to avoid disappointment or go with one of the other low-cost options if you don’t like the uncertainty of getting into the show.

:: STUDIO MOVIE GRILL
Studio Movie Grill’s Summer Children’s Series will run from June 7 through Aug. 19. Children’s tickets are $1 and adults’ are $2 at the theaters in Arlington, Dallas, Lewisville and Plano. In addition, the theater will continue its occasional free screenings for kids with special needs, sponsored by Variety the Children’s Charity. Check www.studiomoviegrill.com (click on “Family Fun” at the bottom) for dates and details.

Happy last days of school!
