Mosey on down to the 6th Annual National Day of the American Cowboy celebration. This Fort Worth Stockyards event (FREE) has been named the “Best Event of its kind in the nation” by western lifestyle magazine, American Cowboy. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating the cowboy with lots of fun for the whole family including contests (watermelon eating, best mustache, among others), a cowboy celebration parade, gunfight shows, and more.

Friday, July 26, 2013 (and Every Friday through Labor Day)

Friday nights over Lake Grapevine will sparkle with spectacular fireworks each Friday through the summer (now through Labor day). If you want to add some extra fun to your family evening, plan to view the fireworks from the Gaylord Texan Resort parking garage roof ~ a great viewing platform.  They will also have a music DJ, games for kids, giveaways, and food and beverages for purchase.

The songs of America will come to life, 100-voices strong when the city of Colleyville presents Red, White & Sousa. Saturday, May 12, 2012

Join cyclists from around Cowtown for a fast-paced ride around the Fort Worth Naval Air Station base. The ride, part of the mayor’s “Rolling Town Hall” series, will give participants a chance to ask the mayor questions while touring one of Fort Worth’s most important pieces of real estate. To join the free ride, bring your bike, a helmet and an official photo ID to the base’s main entrance at 226 Pumphrey Drive. Do note: while some of the mayor’s bike rides are good for children, this longer, 14-mile ride is for adults who want to get a good work out.

Bring the family to the 12th Annual Frontier Fort Days Texas heritage event where you will get to experience what it was like to live as a real wrangler on the Texas frontier. Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards will be lined with encampments of historic fort sites from around Texas. During this FREE event, you will be able to discuss frontier life with re-enactors, explore historically accurate fort camps and wagons, and enjoy soothing live music from the era. Scheduled events include infantry, artillery and cavalry demonstrations, military parades and more.

Bring the family and celebrate National Train Day with local events at both the Fort Worth Intermodal Transportation Center and Dallas Union Station. Each station will have their own special events including the opportunity to ride the train between both Fort Worth and Dallas events.  The Train Day Event will include operating locomotive and passenger car displays, tours through an Amtrak engine cab and Interurban Trolley from the 1920s, model train displays, and entertainment for the kids like balloon artists and face painting.

Bring a blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy Monsters V Aliens on the big
screen, under the stars at Johnson Road Park Amphitheater in Keller.  The
movie will begin at 9:00 PM (or as soon as the sun goes down). Get there
early to find a good spot and enjoy a variety of family games and activities.

the Green, a FREE monthly live music series rolled out by Fort Worth
South
. Bring your blankets and chairs (and even Fido if you want), and
enjoy an evening of live music from great bands in a relaxing setting.     

Hungry? Enjoy one of the neighborhood’s fantastic restaurants beforehand
or take in Chadra Mezza & Grill which will be selling their tasty fare at the
event. No outside coolers or food please.

Fort Worth’s herd cowboys will present a fun and educational demonstration
about the tools, equipment and techniques used during the cattle drive era
of the late 1800′s at Fort Worth Cow Camp.    
  

 Children and adults will have the opportunity for hands on, interactive
experiences including roping, sorting, saddling, cattle drive demonstrations
and more.

admission, the first full weekend of every month, to 120 participating
museums throughout the U.S.      

This FREE Admission program takes place this weekend (June 5 & 6) in
Fort Worth at the recently renovated Fort Worth Museum of Science
and History
. If you have not visited the museum since it reopened
late last year, you are in for a TREAT!

The 3rd Annual Stockyards event (FREE) has been named the “Best Event of its kind in the nation” by western lifestyle magazine, American Cowboy. Don’t miss out on a day dedicated to celebrating the cowboy with lots of fun for all ages!
