All Weekend, Through Sunday, October 18, 2009

PaintOut2Paint Out 4Paint Out 1PaintOut3

You have a treat in store this weekend at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens (one of my favorite, always-free DFW venues): Beautiful fall weather, beautiful surroundings, and…

The 2nd Annual Plein Air Paint Out, a unique outdoor painting event, will be held at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens all weekend long.

FREE to the public, visitors can enjoy watching over 30 professional artists from across the state as they create their paintings in the garden from 8:00 am to dusk. On Sunday morning, beginning at 9:00 am, all Artists will be challenged to a Quick Draw event, where each artist will have 2 ½ hours to create a new painting.

‘Plein air painting’ is a term derived from the French phrase en plein air, which literally means ‘in the open air” and comes from the late 1800s when revolutionary Impressionist artists ventured out of their studios to investigate and capture the effects of sunlight and different times of days on an outdoor subject.

Funds raised support Camp Fire USA youth development programs in Tarrant, Denton, Parker, Johnson, Hood and Wise Counties.
