This is the 2nd weekend of the month-long Texas State Fair in Dallas.

The Texas State Fair runs now through October 17 and covers just about
every area of interest. There are literally hundreds of entertainment
choices and music performances throughout the month including many
well known names like Pointer Sisters. There is something for everyone!

:: FREE Outdoor Concert Event ~ First Friday On The Green
…Friday, October 1, 2010 (Last Show of the Season!)
Enjoy a fun evening with your family and friends with First Friday on
the Green, a FREE monthly live music series sponsored by Fort Worth
South. Bring your blankets and chairs (and even Fido if you want), and
enjoy an evening of live music from great bands in a relaxing setting.
This is the last show of the season!
Hungry? Enjoy one of the neighborhood’s fantastic restaurants beforehand
or take in Chadra Mezza & Grill which will be selling their tasty fare at the
event. No outside coolers or food please.

What: Fort Worth South, Inc. (FWSI) is the non-profit org behind the
revitalization (and suburban greatness) of Fort Worth’s Near

between Magnolia and Rosedale (across the street from the Village

donation to October’s charity, The Women’s Center. Their donation
wish list includes full-size toiletries of all kinds – shampoo, conditioner,
deodorant, toothpaste, etc.

:: FREE 9th Annual Octoberfest in Southlake
Friday to Sunday, October 1-3, 2010
Spend the first weekend of October at Southlake Town Square enjoying
some of the area’s greatest talents at the 9th Annual Octoberfest.
Even Radio Disney will make an appearance! This 3-day event provides
a lengthy list of entertainment, food and fun (see the event and
entertainment schedule here).

Calloway’s Nursery is hosting a FREE Fall Harvest Festival for Families!
There will be fun for all including a miniature Farmer’s Market, free
pumpkin decorating crafts for kids, Mad Science performances (schedule
here), free fall seminars for adults, popcorn, bounce house and more! Don’t
forget to bring your camera, as this will be a great spot to take fall pictures
of the kids.

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help
them learn a new woodworking skill and make a FREE Fireboat Toy
to take home.
Each Kids Workshop participant will receive a kid-sized orange apron
(similar to a Home Depot associate apron) and an achievement pin. All
workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you
have a kit for your little ones.
