If The Shoe Fits… (a.k.a. I Believe I Found the Answer to our Saga of Hard-to-Fit Feet!)

Polkadotshoes

We have a problem in our house…someone (no pointing fingers…or toes) has hard to fit feet!  :)

After spending much time last week trying on pair, after pair, after pair (and still coming home empty handed), I made a wonderful discovery:

Endless.com Online Shoe Store (A relatively new division of Amazon.com).

Not only does Endless live up to its name of having a seemingly “endless” selection of women’s, men’s, and children’s shoes in all styles/price ranges, but they also have an incredible selection for hard to fit feet (narrow to very wide, small to very large sizes …and everything in between).  You can search by size, color, brand, price and other criteria.   I even found the hard-to-find brand of shoes (only sold at a handful of stores in DFW) that, when all else fails, will fit the aforementioned problematic feet.

The “Icing” On The Cake…
Endless.com provided FREE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING to my home, FREE Return Shipping (this sealed the deal for me), and a 100% Price Guarantee.  Plus, no sales tax on purchases in Texas (so we saved almost 10% more in DFW)!

From dress shoes, to running shoes, I believe I have just found my new “go-to” shopping source for shoes.  :)

If you want to check them out, you can get to Endless.com by clicking here.

P.S. For those inquiring minds who wanted to know:  No…this “lovely” red and black polk-a-dot, minnie-mouse number is not on my order.  No, no they are not.  :)

ALERT: Your Credit Card’s terms and agreement will probably change with new laws this month…

piggybank600If you haven’t yet put you credit cards through the shredder, there is an article you will want to read from the Savvy Consumer Column (Teresa McUsic) of the Fort Worth Star Telegram.  Following is an excerpt:

“Some of the credit card changes recently made into law take effect next week.

But consumer advocates and credit card analysts are warning cardholders to be on their toes right now. Your agreement is likely to change, if it hasn’t already. That applies whether you pay off your balance every month, pay faithfully on a balance or are delinquent.

Interest rates on purchases, cash advances and, in some cases, credit defaults are rising, along with various fees in anticipation of the credit card overhaul law, according to a survey released Thursday by San Francisco-based Consumer Action…

Read everything you get from your credit card company, including billing statements and any other notices. Look for changes in your contract…

Between March and June, cards issued by Bank of America and Citigroup led the pack in boosting interest rates on purchases and cash advances. Chase, US Bank and Capitol One cards now carry penalty rates approaching 30 percent. Late fees are up 9 percent, to an average of $28.19, topping out at $39…

You will have time to opt out of the agreement and not accept the new terms.”

On the upside, these new laws require that consumers under age 21 must obtain a co-signer or proof that the applicant can make payments.

GREAT DEAL: Southern Living Subscription $5 (Expires Saturday!)

One of my favorite magazines, Southern Living, is having a one week only subscriber special through Amazon.com. SL normally offers their 1-year subscription for $20-$30, but it is being offered for $5, THIS WEEK ONLY (expires 8/29).

I have been a reader and subscriber to the magazine for many years and find it one of the most enjoyable and useful magazines…from the regional travel/restaurants, southern gardening, and home living tips, to their great seasonal recipes (tested and rated by their food staff /test kitchens, only their top rated recipes get into the magazine).

I’m not much of one to add to the mail-box-generated-paper-piles, but this is too good of an offer not to pass along.

>>> Click here to get the $5 Southern Living subscription (1-year)

If you are not familiar with the magazine, you can get a taste of what is inside at their website (www.southernliving.com).

Frugal Tip (for my friends that like to cook):

Instead of stocking up on cookbooks in your kitchen (or saving all those cutout recipes from the magazines), consider using Southern Living’s free website.  They have archived all the recipes from their monthly mags, along with recipes from Cooking Light, Health, and other magazines owned by the publishing house.

This is a great site to visit when you just don’t know what to cook, are looking for a seasonal recipe, or just want to try something new with a particular ingredient you have on hand.  Click here to search by recipe name or click here to search by ingredient.

WEEKEND FUN OPTION #3
ANYTIME

Take a Driving Tour to take in the Views of
the Top 10 Rated, Most Inspiring Places of North Texas

A couple of weeks ago, the Fort Worth Star Telegram ran a reader’s poll on the Top 10 Most Inspiring Places to Stand in Fort Worth/ North Texas. (See the complete editorial here).  The winners are:

1. The Japanese Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

2. Looking downtown from the steps of the Amon Carter Museum

3. The Serra sculpture at the Modern

4. The New Cowboys Stadium

5. The Fort Worth Zoo

6. The Trinity River bridge north of the Tarrant County Courthouse

7. The Stockyards

8. Great lakes

9. Editors’ pick: Randol Mill Park, Arlington

10. Grand-prize winner: Tandy Hills Natural Area

I must concur with the wise voters of this poll (mostly…not sure I would call the Cowboys Stadium “inspiring”…I’d probably use the word “impressive” instead).  This is a great list and variety of places to “take in” for long time residents of Fort Worth and new visitors alike!   If you have not been to these spots (or need a refresher), take a tour and choose one or more of these locations to visit.  Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Thanks to FWRenaissance for pointing me to this list!
