The 120th Anniversary celebration of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off this Friday, and we’ve got all the inside scoop on how to get FREE and discounted tickets for this favorite annual event!

The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo 23 day event (January 15 – February 6) includes premier livestock shows, daily rodeo (extra ticket needed), musical entertainment, petting zoo, family friendly exhibits, and lots more. The daily schedule is packed full of special activities to enjoy and the list of exhibits and events is fresh each day.

Plan ahead and you can get 50% OFF Rodeo tickets or Stock Show grounds admission for FREE. Here’s how to save:

1. Early Bird Super SaverSpecial (available through January 15 & a savings on multiple days) ~ For a limited time, the Stock Show and Rodeo has a special Super Saver deal that nicely lowers the cost if you will be visiting the Stock Show grounds at least 4 days or more. With this $50 per person deal, you get 20 Midway Ride Coupons (worth $20) and a souvenir pin that provides daily ground admission, admission to 3 Museums (see info on the Moo-seum experience below), and entrance to all Livestock and Horse Shows during the entire 23 days of the show. His “tight-loose” painting style, along with a unique scratch and splatter technique combine to create country-themed paintings to give the viewer a sense of place and turn the ordinary into something extraordinary. These watercolor paintings have been reacquired by his son from various sources to compile a collection never before seen together. Recycle Old Holiday Lights — Where to Drop Off in Fort Worth

Do you have a pile of burned-out Christmas lights sitting around in the garage? Are you replacing old light strands with energy-efficient LED lights? Don’t throw out your old lights — recycle them at one of Fort Worth’s free Christmas light recycling locations.

Drop off unwanted lights at a Fort Worth drop-off station by January 31:

Brennan Drop-off Station, 2400 Brennan Ave.
Southeast Drop-off Station, 5150 Martin Luther King Freeway.
Old Hemphill Road Drop-off Station, 6260 Old Hemphill Road.

The stations are open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Stations close at 5 p.m. the day before holidays.

What: Be a part of Roanoke’s annual Christmas parade, tree lighting, and holiday celebration including a fun night of Bounce houses, carriage rides, children’s crafts, children’s train, live musical performances, photos with Santa (remember to bring your camera!), refreshments and holiday fun at the Recreation Center, strolling carolers, and more. Fort Worth Stockyards Christmas Parade and Celebration
What: Fort Worth Stockyards Christmas Celebration has an afternoon of fun planned including lighting of the Christmas tree, a holiday parade, Cowboy Santa, pony rides, caroling, and more! Learn more here.

:: FREE Annual Littlest Wiseman Christmas Pageant

The Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts and Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir will perform The Littlest Wiseman, a pageant of the Nativity presented December 5 to 13. This Christmas gift to the Fort Worth community has been in production for over 50 years and is an annual tradition for many families. Tickets for all performances are FREE and can be reserved ahead of time (get tickets here) or received at the door (we recommended that you make reservations in advance).

Visit Santa at Sundance Square Plaza. The jolly old elf will be waiting to hear Christmas wishes at his home near the towering 59-foot Sundance Square Christmas tree, beautifully adorned with thousands of lights. Fort Worth Sister Cities International invites you to take your photo with Santa and is offering guests a photo with Santa for a $10 donation (cash only please) which will go towards youth programs. You are also welcome to bring your personal camera to take photos if you prefer.

Visitors will be led by docents through the farmhouse and the farm to experience how Grapevine’s earliest settlers celebrated Christmas in Texas during the latter part of the 19th Century. Visitors can enjoy hot cider and cookies and a tour of the farm as well.

You will find water crafts decorated in all of the finest sparkling lights to celebrate the season. This floating festival begins at Twin Coves Marina and picks up entries at each marina including Scott’s Landing and Silver Lake.

I LOVE this freebie ~ so fantastic on so many levels!! Select stores across the U.S. are offering military brides FREE wedding gowns through the non-profit group, Brides Across America. The gowns are samples and overstocks and worth $500 to $3000. The National Parks Service is offering FREE entrance to all parks on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 26th. As part of the celebration, you can enjoy over 400 National Parks for FREE. Do note that not all national parks charge fees, but those that do will waive their costs these days (for example, $25 a car at Big Bend or $20 a car at Rocky Mountain National Park).

Morse’s iconic painting Gallery of the Louvre (1831–1833) along with a selection of works from the museum’s own collection that, like Morse’s painting, feature museum and gallery spaces as their subject matter. Though Morse is most widely known as a scientist and inventor, he was a leading artist of his time. Filled with his careful and personal selection of the Louvre’s finest works, all of which he painstakingly reproduced in miniature, the painting is a signal work of transatlantic exchange intended to connect American audiences with great European artworks.
