Cheap Date at Baskin Robbins (Buy One Get One FREE Ice Cream!)

BaskinRobbinsI have great childhood memories of going to Baskin Robbins in the summer as a child (pre-Blue Bell days).  I would examine all the flavor choices in the case carefully, but it would always boil down to choosing 1 of 3 flavors: Pistachio Almond, Mint Chocolate Chip, or regular Chocolate chip.  I remember getting an annual coupon for a free ice cream on my birthday too!

Some things don’t change…

It’s almost June and ice cream season again (many would argue…”when is it not ice cream season?”), AND even BETTER…Baskin Robins is ringing in the season with a FREE ice cream coupon.  You can print out the coupon by clicking here.

Happy end of school and beginning of Summer!     Enjoy :)

P.S. I just discovered Baskin Robbins STILL sends you a free ice cream coupon on your birthday, but now the coupon comes by email!  To sign up for the birthday club (you or your whole family), click here!

An excerpt from an interview with Randy Alcorn
(From the May 26 radio edition of
Revive our Hearts)

The treasure principle itself is…we can’t take it with us but we can send it on ahead. And Jesus told us in Matthew 6:20 that we could actually lay up treasures in heaven.

And we do that—we lay up treasures in heaven—not only by giving (s.i.c. financially), but we give in other ways:

  • We give of our time.
  • We give of our talents, our giftings.
  • We invest ourselves in our children, in our aging parents, in our friends who have needs—someone’s gone through a divorce or someone has been abandoned, someone is struggling with cancer.

Every time we give of ourselves to other people in the name of Christ and for the glory of God, we are investing in treasure in heaven.

Tomorrow’s radio program and blog with Randy Alcorn is a great opportunity for a heart checkup in this area of our lives….we are so prone to go toward things that are temporal and seen and visible and to start to put down roots here on this earth.   Click the link above to take part or paste the following URL into your browser:  http://www.reviveourhearts.com/radio/roh/today.php

These Economic Times

Daily, we hear reports in the news media about hard economic times. Lately it seems that even personal conversations are full of words like “Down-sizing” (a.k.a., more corporate-politically-correct… “right-sizing”), “foreclosures”, “recession” …and the list goes on!

Rather than dwell on what the news is reporting, I have decided to come alongside others and “link arms” as we walk this economic road and get to the other side.

A Bit of Encouragement

Through this blog, I hope you find encouragement for becoming financially free and solutions for reducing your family expenses. My hope is that I am able to provide you fresh ideas on how to save money for the future, get out of debt, and…for those budgeted expenses…stretch your family’s funds.

I invite you to join me on this journey and would love to hear YOUR ideas for how you are making a difference and reaching your goals with your family finances. Please feel free to share this blog link with your friends and family, too!

             JOHN 10:10 NIV

A Little About Me

I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and have spent my entire adult life in Central/North Texas (Howdy!). I now live in the suburbs of Dallas/Fort Worth and within a few miles of my home, I have buffalo, cattle, oil wells, and yea verily…“ya’ll” even slips into the grammar! Yes, I’m a true blue Texan. Even so, I have Midwest roots, as I was raised by parents from the heart of Kansas’ ranching and wheat land.

I have my parents to thank for teaching me the importance of staying out of debt, the value of making every dollar count, and the significance of saving for the future. They taught me to save, give, and spend less than I earned.

Along the way, I also learned that this is not my/our money…it is God’s…and we are entrusted and responsible to manage what God gives us for the short time we are on this Earth. My heart is to help others learn how to better manage their finances God’s way and to join others on this journey to faithfully living by God’s principles in every area of their lives.
