Where: 3400 Burnett-Tandy Dr. Click here for driving directions. A Special Park & Ride shuttle will be available Saturdays and Sundays during the Stock Show. It will take you directly from Ridgmar Mall or Billy Bob’s to the front gate, pick you up, and return you to your vehicle parking lot for only $1.00 each way (pretty slick!). Through February 4, 2012

If you will be attending the Stock Show & Rodeo this year, be sure and hang onto your ticket stubs and take part in the “Moo-seum” program. With your rodeo or grounds admission ticket you can get FREE admission (until February 4th) to The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame or the Cattle Raisers Museum. For adults, that’s a savings of $24 if you visit all 3!

Join Bob Ray Sanders, author of the book, Calvin Littlejohn: Portrait of a Community in Black and White for a discussion of Littlejohn’s valuable contribution to history through his captured images. Fort Worth native Bob Ray Sanders has been a professional journalist for 40 years and is currently Vice President, Associate Editor and Metro columnist for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Sanders wrote the text for the photographic essay, Calvin Littlejohn: Portrait of a Community in Black and White, which places the artist’s work in historical context.

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help them learn a new woodworking skill and make a FREE Valentines Day Keepsake Box to take home. Each Kids Workshop participant will receive a kid-sized orange apron (similar to a Home Depot associate apron) and an achievement pin. All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.

Join the Fort Worth Central Library for a free showing of the classic 1954 film Rear Window featuring Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly on Sunday, February 5th. This monthly event is part of the First Sunday Film Series which will present award-winning movies in a wide range of genres, including drama, action, comedy and science fiction. Films will be shown on the large screen of the Tandy Lecture Hall in the Central Library.

About the movie: Jimmy Stewart plays a man who thinks he has witnessed a murder from his rear window with Grace Kelly as the girlfriend who helps him investigate. Nominated for four Oscars, this film is considered one of Alfred Hitchcock’s best and listed by the American Film Institute as one of the greatest movies of all time. Rated PG; 112 minutes.

Both local and hotel guests can attend.

Texan Rocks! ~ Saturday

Take an Art-FULL Trek to Dallas

 

Activity 1: Nasher Sculpture Center ~ Saturday Morning Free Admission for Families (Sept. 5).  The Nasher Sculpture Center presents First Saturdays for families.  Held the first Saturday of every month, this special event features free admission from 10 am to 2 pm and a fun schedule of activities for the kids.  For details, including complete schedule and directions to the Nasher, click here.

Activity 2: Saturday Morning Walking Tour Through the Dallas Arts District (Sept. 5).  Listen to experienced docents share the area’s history and architecture while strolling by the Crow Collection of Asian Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Meyerson Symphony Center, historic Belo Mansion and more. Get a close up view of the Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theatre under construction (set to open fall 2009).  Tour starts in front of the Crow Collection of Asian Art (2010 Flora Street, Dallas)  at 10:30am on Saturday (Sept. 5). Activity 3: Saturday Night In The City: Nasher Sculpture Garden Concert Series, presenting Cary Pierce.  Bring your friends, grab a blanket, and experience music in downtown Dallas’ only Garden oasis.   Concert featuring, Cary Pierce, begins at 7:30 (for more information on Cary Pierce, please click here).   Al Fresco Dining options include Wolfgang Puck’s signature Pizza or a reservations only dinner (Click here for dining details).  Members attend for free. Man of La Mancha ~ Onstage in Bedford

Based on the classic story of Don Quixote in 16th century Spain, this beautiful and uplifting musical recounts the fable of an ailing gentleman who spends his last days in the quest for “The Impossible Dream.”  A quality stage production, performed by Onstage in Bedford(voted Best Community Theatre in the DFW area by WFAA-Channel 8).

 Take a FREE Ride on Fort Worth’s New Molly the Trolley
~ Routes: Downtown, Sundance Square, Stockyards, and more ~
 

Don your favorite Cowboy hat and boots, and tour some of Fort Worth’s favorite locations!  Enjoy a free trolley ride around Sundance Square and other parts of downtown (or take the trip to The Stockyards for a small fee). Fort Worth’s new “Molly The Trolley” is a vintage-style streetcar and a great way to visit key sites, dining, and other locations.
