:: 2012 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo ~ Last Weekend!
Through February 4, 2012

Kick up your heels and enjoy acres of excitement and western heritage at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Events include rodeo (extra ticket required), free musical entertainment, petting zoo, family friendly exhibits, premier livestock shows, and more ~ the schedule of events is fresh each day. Plus your stock show ticket gets you FREE entry into 3 fantastic museums: Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Cattle Raisers Museum and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.  If you haven’t been yet, this is the last weekend!

When: The 2012 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo takes place now through February 4. Learn more here.
Where: 3400 Burnett-Tandy Dr. Click here for driving directions. A Special Park & Ride shuttle will be available Saturdays and Sundays during the Stock Show. It will take you directly from Ridgmar Mall or Billy Bob’s to the front gate, pick you up, and return you to your vehicle parking lot for only $1.00 each way (pretty slick!). Through February 4, 2012

If you will be attending the Stock Show & Rodeo this year, be sure and hang onto your ticket stubs and take part in the “Moo-seum” program. With your rodeo or grounds admission ticket you can get FREE admission (until February 4th) to The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame or the Cattle Raisers Museum. For adults, that’s a savings of $24 if you visit all 3!

Join Bob Ray Sanders, author of the book, Calvin Littlejohn: Portrait of a Community in Black and White for a discussion of Littlejohn’s valuable contribution to history through his captured images. Fort Worth native Bob Ray Sanders has been a professional journalist for 40 years and is currently Vice President, Associate Editor and Metro columnist for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Sanders wrote the text for the photographic essay, Calvin Littlejohn: Portrait of a Community in Black and White, which places the artist’s work in historical context.

Bank of America’s 2012 national program, Museums On Us offers FREE  admission, the first full weekend of every month, to 150 participating museums, zoos, botanical gardens and more throughout the United States. This FREE Admission program takes place this weekend in Fort Worth at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help them learn a new woodworking skill and make a FREE Valentines Day Keepsake Box to take home. Each Kids Workshop participant will receive a kid-sized orange apron (similar to a Home Depot associate apron) and an achievement pin. All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.

Join the Fort Worth Central Library for a free showing of the classic 1954 film Rear Window featuring Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly on Sunday, February 5th. This monthly event is part of the First Sunday Film Series which will present award-winning movies in a wide range of genres, including drama, action, comedy and science fiction. Films will be shown on the large screen of the Tandy Lecture Hall in the Central Library.

About the movie: Jimmy Stewart plays a man who thinks he has witnessed a murder from his rear window with Grace Kelly as the girlfriend who helps him investigate. Nominated for four Oscars, this film is considered one of Alfred Hitchcock’s best and listed by the American Film Institute as one of the greatest movies of all time. Rated PG; 112 minutes.
