New to LeftLane Sports?  They are a members-only (joining is free!) daily deal site featuring top outdoor, and sports brands — like Pearl Izumi, Salomon, Marmot, Columbia, Patagonia, and Camelbak — typically 50-80% off retail price (we’ve found them regularly LOTS cheaper than REI and Whole Earth for the same brands). Whether you run, cycle, hike, camp, ride, swim, or just like to take a casual stroll, they’ve got top-of-the-line gear at close-out prices.

Membership is free, and since I invited you, you’ll receive an instant $10 shopping credit (here) towards your first purchase.

…And Here’s the Scoop on LeftLane Sports’ EXTRA $10 Credit Offer For New Members!

It’s a great time to get signed-up for LeftLane Sports daily deals!  When you sign up for the first time, you’ll get $10 credited to your account to use towards any LeftLane Sports  order of $50 or more ~ including these already discounted Chaco Sandals!  It looks like you have 6 months to use the credit before it expires, but other than that, there are no other strings attached (love that!). Do note that the $10 credit is only offered for new account sign-ups and that it is FREE to join.   Go here to sign up for free and get the $10 credit! How to get the Extra $10 OFF LeftLane Sports credit:

How to Make Snow Ice Cream — a.k.a. Winter Bliss in a Bowl

Bookmark and Share

I hope you are enjoying our beautiful snow today!

We are not posting our weekly Fort Worth Free & Cheap Weekend Events (for Feb. 27 & 28) since most events are cancelled or postponed due to this lovely winter weather.  Instead, we decided to “dust off” and share this archived post/recipe from a few years ago —  How to Make Snow Ice Cream.

Have fun and stay warm! : )

Something New to Try
On this fluffy-white, beautiful snow day, I thought it would be fun to make snow   ice cream for the first time.  I remember my parents sharing memories about making the treat when they were kiddos (they grew up where snow was a more frequent occurrence than here in Fort Worth), and I always thought it sounded like the ultimate “fun food!”

I do believe this is just the thing to try on this wonderful winter day, and have already set my largest bowl outside to catch a container-full of winter bliss.

Following is the recipe I used, which comes with great reviews from allrecipes.com:

Bon Appetite, y’all!

Snow Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients

1 gallon snow
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups milk (or half and half for a richer taste)

Directions

  1. When it starts to snow, place a large, clean bowl outside to collect the flakes.
  2. When full, stir in sugar and vanilla to taste, then stir in just enough milk for the desired consistency.
  3. Serve at once.

Options:  Personally, we like this recipe best, as is, but you can also try mixing other favorite ingredients such as cocoa powder, cinnamon, coconut, or chocolate chips. Get creative and the kids (big and small) will have a blast making it.

Did you try this recipe? We’d love to hear about your experience in the comments section.

Enjoy and Share!    :)

Up to 50% OFF Marmot Clothing, Jackets, BackPacks, Tents, and More — Ends Wednesday

Bookmark and Share

We are big fans of Marmot brand jackets, athletic clothing, and other outdoor gear ~ REALLY great quality, but the prices are often a bit spendy at retailers like REI and Whole Earth Provision. That’s why we want to tell you about a Marmot sale that caught our attention over at LeftLane Sports (but you’ll not want to wait, as it ends tomorrow). Plus, if you are new to LeftLane Sports, we’ll help you save an extra $10 on top of the sale prices.

Here’s a sampling of our favorite Marmot sale finds…
(Sale ends Wednesday, January 28)

Marmot

:: OUR FAVORITE DEAL: Marmot Ultra Kompressor Backpack drops to $40.95 with $10 OFF LeftLane new member credit (retails for $93.50) — we’ve looked and cannot find a price that comes close! We’ve recently been doing a lot of research on day-packs for our personal use and can tell you first hand that this is a really well-made, top-rated pack designed to comfortably carry and protect your gear for a 1-2 day hike.  It’s a super-lightweight 22 Liter backpack with lots of storage, but easily compressible if you are carrying a lighter load. Also, definitely worth mentioning, it has a pocket to hold a water reservoir like a CamelBak (purchased separately).  Available in multiple colors.

:: Marmot Men’s Nanowick Packable Jacket drops to $61.95 with $10 OFF LeftLane new member credit (retails for $125).  This is an ultra lightweight athletic jacket with moisture-wicking and breathable wind-resistant fabric.  It is even lined and packs into a pocket for convenience on the go.

:: Marmot Women’s Vogue Tank drops to $27.95 (retails for $52).   Made of soft and stretchy Supplex nylon, features a built in bra, and a design that’s a favorite for everything from yoga to jogging. Offered in 8 colors and fabric designs.

:: The Marmot sale also includes a nice selection of other men’s & women’s jackets, athletic clothing & gear, backpacks, tents, and other outdoor items.  See the entire sale here.

Don’t Forget The LeftLane Sports
HOT $10 Credit Offer For New Members!

When you sign up for LeftLane Sports daily deals for the first time, you’ll receive a $10 credit to use towards any LeftLane Sports order of $50 or more ~ including their exclusive Marmot sale!  It looks like you have 6 months to use the credit before it expires, but other than that, there are no other strings attached (we love this!). Do note that the $10 credit is only offered for new account sign-ups and that it is FREE to join.

How to get the $10 OFF LeftLane Sports credit:

  1. Go here to sign up for free and get the $10 Left Lane Sports credit! Once you are signed up as a new member, a $10 credit will be waiting for you to use on your minimum $50 Purchase.
  2. Find and select the Marmot sale or sale of choice by scrolling through the discount “boutiques” listed on LeftLane Sports (look for this image).
    ..
  3. Make your purchase before Wednesday. This sale goes away on Wednesday, so you will not want to wait!  As usual with LeftLane Sports, many items do sell out quickly.

New to LeftLane Sports?  It’s a members-only (joining is free!) daily deal website featuring top endurance, outdoor, and sports brands — like Pearl Izumi, Asics, Columbia, Patagonia, and Camelbak — at typically 50-70% off retail price!  Whether you run, cycle, hike, camp, ski or swim they’ve got you covered with great daily sales.  Membership is free, and since I invited you, you’ll receive an instant $10 shopping credit towards your first purchase!   Learn more or join here free to get the $10 credit.
