Granbury Harvest Moon Festival of the Arts will feature a nationally juried fine art and contemporary crafts show in conjunction with Granbury’s FIRST Hot Air Balloon Festival!   With changing leaves and crisp cool air, it’s the perfect time for families to enjoy the harvest season!

Inaugural lectures, panel discussions, and daylong symposia featuring leading experts from all over the world launch the opening day of the Kimbell’s special exhibit:  Faces of Impressionism: Portraits from the Musée d’Orsay.   This event is free, but seating is limited.

:: FREE Butterfly Flutterby Family Festival and Parade

Grapevine Butterfly Festival

Bring the entire family to celebrate the migration of the monarch butterfly from Canada to Mexico by way of Grapevine. The 17th Annual Butterfly Flutterby is a free, family-friendly event held at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens.

The day begins with a Butterfly Costume Parade that starts at East Wall and Jenkins Streets. After the parade, participate in butterfly crafts, butterfly exhibits, the Migration Station, interactive games, a scavenger hunt, face painting and other activities in the Botanical Gardens. Butterfly Releases will take place at 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the Grapevine Botanical Gardens.

Get a taste of farm life just steps away from the heart of the city. Historic Nash Farm in Grapevine is hosting a FREE Fall Family Fun Round-up and Harvest Festival! There will be a full day of activities for all, including kitchen gardening, live music, farm animals, blacksmith and wood carving demonstrations, cotton picking, heritage toys, heritage games, wood-burning stove cooking demonstrations, petting zoo and more. Concessions will be available for purchase at the event.

at Fort Worth’s Central Library

Fort Worth Library Vaquero Exhibit

Fort Worth’s Central Library presents the exhibition, Vaquero: Genesis of the Texas Cowboy, now through October 20, 2014. The collection of more than 100 photos and artifacts explores the centuries‐old vaquero (cowboy) tradition of northern Mexico.

Exhibit highlights: Photographs from the Bill Wittliff Collection, the original model of Vaquero de Fort Worth statue (commemorates the vaqueros’ contribution to Fort Worth history), and artifacts including tools, clothing, hand‐tooled saddles, and more.
