The Airfare Wars Are On! American, Southwest, & United Offer $48 One-Way to Lots of Destinations!

Great Deals on Airfare To Over 5,000 Routes!
If you watched even a little bit of  TV this week, you probably saw
one of Southwest’s commercials for its big new sale. Not to be
outdone, United, American, and a handful of other carriers have all
matched that sale with almost identical promotions of their own.

All promotions combined, more than 5,000 routes have been discounted
with fares starting at $48 one-way. AirTran, Alaska, Continental, Delta,
Frontier, JetBlue, and US Airways are also in the price-war mix with
unannounced (but similar) fares on their sale routes.

Note: To get the special pricing, you will need to book by
Monday, December 13, 2010 , for January 4- March 9  flights.

How:
Go to American‘s, Southwest‘s, and United‘s sale and
    compare prices for the destination and dates of interest. Seats
    and availability are limited, so being flexible with your travel
    dates and times will likely help you find the lowest fares as you
    comparison shop.
When: Special fares are good for travel Jan. 4 to Mar. 9, 2011. 
    You must book by Monday, December 13, 2010 to get the
    special fare. Book as soon as possible for best travel dates
    and options.

This weekend’s weather is going to be fabulous and quite possibly the last “must. do. something. outside” days we have for the year. As such, I feel compelled to repeat a post from a couple of months ago…a suggestion to take a tour of the Top 10 Most Inspiring Places to Stand in Fort Worth/ North Texas (according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram).

Golden Corral’s 9th annual Military Appreciation dinner will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 5 to 9 pm in all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide. The FREE dinner meal is a special “thank you tribute” to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to join Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation dinner.

FREE Walking Cane at Sam’s Club
Over 25,000 Hugo canes will be given away free of charge to United States military veterans in need of mobility assistance. Sam’s Club membership is not required, but supplies are limited so you may want to call your local store before heading there.   Proof of military service may be required. To honor America’s service men and women, National Parks will not charge entrance fees on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Visitors to public recreation lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation are invited to take a day to honor and reflect on what our service men and women have done to maintain our freedom and keep peace around the world. Knott’s Berry Farm pays tribute to past and present U.S. armed forces personnel during Veteran’s Month with FREE park admission for them and a guest November 1-26. Colonial Williamsburg FREE Admission
Colonial Williamsburg honors America’s Veterans with a procession down Duke of Gloucester Street, 4:30 p.m., beginning at the Capitol. The parade culminates in a public ceremony, with militia and cannon crew firing volleys in recognition of those who serve. Hear Colonial Williamsburg’s Fifes and Drums, and speakers from past and present. Active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents enjoy free admission passes through Wednesday, Nov. 11. Learn more.
