Military veterans and active-duty service members will be able to eat for free at any Applebee’s across the U.S. on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. There will be six entrees from the menu to choose from. Guests will be asked to show one or more of the following as proof of service: a U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, or Veterans Organization Card. Use your military ID at any Home Depot or Lowes now thru Wednesday the 11th (Veterans Day), and receive a 10% discount (up to $200 in-store only) on single receipt purchases. The 10% military discount is available to: Active-duty military members, National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, honorably discharged veterans and immediate family members of all those groups. Up to 50% OFF at Cabela’s Outdoor
Cabela’s Outdoor store is offering their employee discount to all veterans, active duty military and reserves, law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel on Nov. 11 and 12. At their “Hometown Heroes” event, eligible shoppers will need to check in at the store info desk to receive a coupon for the discount. The discount varies from 5% to 50%, depending on item, and excludes guns, boats, trailers and safes. Learn more.
SeaWorld Parks FREE Admission
Sea World is providing complimentary admission for active duty military representing all five service branches, active members of a reserve or National Guard unit, and/or up to three direct dependants. Eat FREE at Golden Corral
Golden Corral’s 9th annual Military Appreciation dinner will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 5 to 9 pm in all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide. The FREE dinner meal is a special “thank you tribute” to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to join Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation dinner.
FREE Walking Cane at Sam’s Club
Over 25,000 Hugo canes will be given away free of charge to United States military veterans in need of mobility assistance. Sam’s Club membership is not required, but supplies are limited so you may want to call your local store before heading there. Proof of military service may be required. Fee FREE Day at National Parks
To honor America’s service men and women, National Parks will not charge entrance fees on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Visitors to public recreation lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation are invited to take a day to honor and reflect on what our service men and women have done to maintain our freedom and keep peace around the world. Knott’s Berry Farm FREE Admission
Knott’s Berry Farm pays tribute to past and present U.S. armed forces personnel during Veteran’s Month with FREE park admission for them and a guest November 1-26. Colonial Williamsburg FREE Admission
Colonial Williamsburg honors America’s Veterans with a procession down Duke of Gloucester Street, 4:30 p.m., beginning at the Capitol. The parade culminates in a public ceremony, with militia and cannon crew firing volleys in recognition of those who serve. Hear Colonial Williamsburg’s Fifes and Drums, and speakers from past and present. Active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents enjoy free admission passes through Wednesday, Nov. 11. Learn more.

If you know a Veteran, someone in your family, a friend or neighbor who served their country, take a brief moment of your day to thank them for the sacrifice they made for our country. I am so very thankful for every service member in our military who has served our great nation.
