Kick off your summer with a weekend filled with free music under the stars! The third annual Downtown Arlington Center Stage Music Festival runs May 23-25 with a true Texas original, Bob Schneider; Texas blues guitar legend, Jimmie Vaughan; and more. Opening acts will perform before each headliner, plus the Levitt will be surrounded by food and art vendors — the perfect way to start the summer!

Tip:  Be sure to bring along a lawn chair or blanket to comfortably enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Snacks or a picnic dinner, and beverages are allowed, but no glass containers please.

 Friday, May 23, 2014 (and Every Friday through Labor Day)

See the skies light up over Lake Grapevine every Friday at the Summer Blast Fireworks Show starting at 9:30 p.m. Beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, this weekly show can be viewed on the rooftop of the parking garage at Gaylord Texan Resort, as well as at parks around Lake Grapevine. Botanic Gardens

Extend a well-deserved “thank you” to America’s veterans by joining the city of Granbury for their Memorial Day Veteran’s weekend Celebration. This 3-day event will include A Veterans ceremony, an old-fashioned Memorial Day parade, arts and crafts for purchase, contests, a variety of foods from local restaurants and more.

The Kimbell Art Museum ~ Fort Worth Art Program

Families with young children are invited to drop-in, hang out, and play around with color all summer long in the Kimbell Museum’s new seasonal learning environment designed for ages 5 and younger. Summer Fun in Studio A will feature thematic “do-it-together” activities focusing on color, along with a reading nook and digital interactive station. This Saturday’s event includes art activities for little ones and mini-classes for parents. Plus, visitors will receive a special “colorific” gift.  Do note that you may want to arrive early to sign up as space is limited.

Join Williams-Sonoma’s weekly Junior Chef Class where they will show kids how fun and easy cooking can be.  They’ll learn to make delicious recipes, from main courses to desserts and snacks, with plenty of tasting along the way.  At this week’s class, kids will discover how much fun it is to make stuffed burgers plus a vegetable burger that tastes amazing. For ages 8 and up.  Note: You’ll want to call to reserve your spot since class size is limited.
