FREE Drawing From the Collection classes for kids: Two sessions of this free program for children are offered, one for ages 5 to 8 and one for ages 9 to 12. Each session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises that relate to works in the Modern’s galleries. Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited; early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk.
FREE Drawing From the Collection class for adults: Learn with local artists as they lead free, informal basic drawing classes in the galleries. This class is open to adults at all skill levels. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Registration is not required, but a sign-in sheet is available at the information desk

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help them learn a new woodworking skill and build their very own 2014 calendar project to take home. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin. All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.

This monthly event is part of the First Sunday Film Series which presents award-winning movies in a wide range of genres, including drama, action, comedy and science fiction. Films will be shown on the large screen of the library’s movie theater.
