All Jazzed Up and Someplace to Go
If you are a jazz fan, then you will want to check out this year’s Third Thursday Jazz Series, sponsored by the Fort Worth Jazz Society.
This seven-concert series features an outstanding list of nationally and locally known talent and is FREE and open to the public. The monthly lineup includes jazz guitarist Jerry Hahn, acclaimed by Rolling Stone Magazine; Paul Unger who has performed with such artists as Kevin Eubanks, Bob Newhart, Bernadette Peters, and Andrea Bocelli; as well as other fantastic jazz artists that will feature everything from swing jazz to Count Basie blues.
The Jerry Hahn Quartet ~ Featured May 19th.
The series continues this Thursday, May 19 and features Jerry Hahn and his quartet. One of the most celebrated guitarists of his generation, Hahn is an innovative musician who has made many contributions to the fusion movement. Rolling Stone calls this internationally known performer “One of the best jazz guitarists in the country.”

Where: In the Gallery of the Fort Worth Central Library. You can
park on the street or in the 3rd St. & Taylor Parking Garage. The parking
garage is FREE after 6:00pm or if you go earlier, have your parking ticket
validated at the Central Library for up to 2.5 hours on weekdays.
Cost: FREE, no ticket required.
Third Thursday Jazz Series Monthly Lineup
- May 19: Jerry Hahn Quartet. Rolling Stone magazine called Hahn “one of the best jazz guitarists in the country.”
- June 16: Corner Pocket. Featuring vocalist Tatiana Mayfield, this band will perform swinging songs from Basie to the Blues.
- July 21: Duane Durrett Quintet. Featuring Victor Cager and Mack Goldsbury, this quintet will perform the songs of the great duo John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman.
- August 18: Kristin Korb Trio. This acclaimed singer and bassist will take a fresh look at the great American songbook.
- September 15: Fred Hersch Trio. The featured act of our series, Down Beat magazine calls Hersch a “brilliant composer and pianist.”
- October 20: Paul Unger Septet. Unger’s group will perform “Pathway to Fusion,” the music of Miles Davis from the ’60s and ’70s.
