Lectures include eminent scholars, Gloria Groom, Curator ~ Art Institute of Chicago,  Michael Marrinan, professor of art history at Stanford University, and Nicole R. Myers, associate curator of European painting and sculpture, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City. The series is free and no reservations are required; however, do note that you may want to arrive early as space is limited.

From paintings and photos to sculptures and collectibles, the Fort Worth Library offers a number of quality exhibits throughout the year. The Library strives to present some of the best works of local artists, photographers and collectors, celebrating both the talent and diversity of our community. Still Life: Wildlife and Everything in Between features a variety of mixed media works including paintings, photographs and sculptures. All the artists are local to DFW, but originally come from across the nation and the world.

Target First Saturdays are designed especially for children in preschool to elementary school and feature a lineup of activities that encourage creative thought through a monthly “Big Idea.” Children can engage in art projects and experience creativity in action through scavenger hunts, performances, storytime and more.

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help them learn a new woodworking skill and build their very own Wood Jet (in honor of Veteran’s Day) to take home. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.  All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin.  All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.
