Fort Worth’s Central Library presents the exhibition, Vaquero: Genesis of the Texas Cowboy, now through October 20, 2014. The collection of more than 100 photos and artifacts explores the centuries‐old vaquero (cowboy) tradition of northern Mexico.
Exhibit highlights: Photographs from the Bill Wittliff Collection, the original model of Vaquero de Fort Worth statue (commemorates the vaqueros’ contribution to Fort Worth history), and artifacts including tools, clothing, hand‐tooled saddles, and more.

This Saturday, bring your child to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop to help them learn a new woodworking skill and build their very own EMS Truck (in honor of Fire Safety Month) to take home. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin. All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.

FREE Drawing From the Collection classes for kids: Two sessions of this free program for children are offered, one for ages 5 to 8 and one for ages 9 to 12. Each session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises that relate to works in the Modern’s galleries. Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited; early arrival is encouraged.
