at Fort Worth’s Central Library

Fort Worth Library Vaquero Exhibit

Fort Worth’s Central Library presents the exhibition, Vaquero: Genesis of the Texas Cowboy, now through October 20, 2014. The collection of more than 100 photos and artifacts explores the centuries‐old vaquero (cowboy) tradition of northern Mexico.

Exhibit highlights: Photographs from the Bill Wittliff Collection, the original model of Vaquero de Fort Worth statue (commemorates the vaqueros’ contribution to Fort Worth history), and artifacts including tools, clothing, hand‐tooled saddles, and more.

Where: The downtown Fort Worth Central Library gallery, 500 W. 3rd St. You can park on the street or in the 3rd St. & Taylor Parking Garage.  The parking garage and parking meters are FREE on weekends.

Friday to Sunday ~ September 12-14, 2014

Join your family and friends for an evening of FREE music at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington – part of their fall series of free music and performing arts under the stars. Be sure to bring along a lawn chair or blanket to comfortably enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Snacks or a picnic dinner, and beverages are allowed, but no glass containers, please.

Fort Worth’s herd cowboys will present a fun and educational demonstration about the tools, equipment and techniques used during the cattle drive era of the late 1800′s at Fort Worth Cow Camp. Children and adults will have the opportunity for hands on, interactive experiences including roping, sorting, saddling, cattle drive demonstrations, and more.
