 Friday, June 6, 2014 (and Every Friday through Labor Day)

See the skies light up over Lake Grapevine every Friday at the Summer Blast Fireworks Show starting at 9:30 p.m. Beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, this weekly show can be viewed on the rooftop of the parking garage at Gaylord Texan Resort, as well as at parks around Lake Grapevine.  This Saturday, June 7,  anyone in Texas can fish on public bodies of water without needing to purchase a state fishing license.  This is a great way to “test the waters” with the family without making a big investment.  P.S. Do note that in Texas fishing is free every day in state parks.

River Legacy Living Science Center is hosting several FREE trail hikes during National Trails Day to be led by Texas Master Naturalists. 8:30 am will be an extended hike of 2 to 3 hours in River Legacy Parks. Other scheduled hikes lasting about 30 minutes to an hour will be at: 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Space is limited, so please RSVP for one of the scheduled hike times by calling 817.860.6752.

Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.  All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin.  All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones.
