Enjoy an afternoon of free family fun for all ages at the Kimbell Art Museum on Saturday. Festival activities are offered in conjunction with the exhibition Wari: Lords of the Ancient Andes and will include music performances by Wayanay Inka. No reservations necessary. Admission to the special exhibition is also free during this event.

Friday nights over Lake Grapevine will sparkle with spectacular fireworks each Friday through the summer (now through Labor day). If you want to add some extra fun to your family evening, plan to view the fireworks from the Gaylord Texan Resort parking garage roof ~ a great viewing platform. They will also have a music DJ, games for kids, giveaways, and food and beverages for purchase.

Bank of America’s 2013 national program, Museums On Us offers FREE admission, the first full weekend of every month, to 150+ participating museums throughout the country. In DFW, this FREE Admission program takes place this weekend (August 3 and 4) at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and in Dallas at The Perot Museum of Nature & Science.

All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a commemorative pin. All workshops are free, but you should probably show up early to insure you have a kit for your little ones (one workshop kit, apron and pin per child).

Join the Fort Worth Central Library for a free showing of the film The Great Debaters featuring Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker on Sunday, August 4th. This monthly event is part of the First Sunday Film Series which presents award-winning movies in a wide range of genres, including drama, action, comedy and science fiction. Films will be shown on the large screen of the Tandy Lecture Hall in the Central Library.
About the movie: Based on a true story, this film examines the social and racial climate of the American South during the 1930s. Teacher Melvin B. Tolson (Denzel Washington) inspires his students to form Wiley College’s first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in a national championship. Rated PG-13, 124 mins.
