:: Make a Memory at a Local Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration

There are lots of Christmas Tree Lighting festivities happening around town this weekend! Pick one (or two!), heat up a thermos of hot chocolate, bundle up, and head out to create a fun memory for your family!  Many of these events have a rain plan as well (check the website), so don’t let that keep you at home.

Following is a sample of some of the fun choices:

Keller Town Center Holly Days
What: 
 Young and young-at-heart will enjoy the free festivities, which include arrival of Santa stage entertainment, arts and crafts, a two-lane tubing hill, gingerbread house decoration and much more.

Cost: Entrance to event is FREE, but some kids activities have a small fee.

City of Roanoke Christmas Event & 20th Anniversary Parade
What:
  Get your seat early at Oak & Austin in historic Downtown Roanoke  ~ enjoy the lighted parade, tree-lighting, strolling carolers, horse and carriage rides, and more.  A Victorian Christmas at the Visitor Center & Museum makes this a festive time for everyone. Enjoy free treats from participating downtown Roanoke businesses and a family sing-along after the parade. Visit the Rec. Center for photos with Santa, Christmas Crafts, Bounce Houses, Children’s Train, Live music and more holiday fun until 9:00 pm.  Learn more here.

North Richland Hills Tree Lighting Celebration at NRH2O
What: 
Fireworks, arrival by Santa, mini-train rides, 110-foot long snow tubing hill of REAL SNOW(!!), marshmallow roast,  photos with Santa, holiday market, lighting of the tree, live entertainment, and more!  Learn more here.
When:
Saturday, December 3, 2011 ~ 4:00-8:00PM
Where: NRH2O in North Richland Hills, 9001 Texas Highway 26.

Cost: Admission is FREE.  Parking is FREE at Tarrant County College
Northeast Campus located on Boulevard 26. Please bring a new,
unwrapped toy or canned food item for the City’s annual toy and food
drive. Some kids activities have a small fee ($1-$3).

 Fort Worth Stockyards Christmas & Tree Lighting Celebration
What: 
Fort Worth Stockyards Christmas Celebration has an evening of fun planned including lighting of the Christmas tree, a holiday parade, Cowboy Santa, pony rides, petting zoo, caroling, and much more!

:: FREE! 51st Anniversary ~ Littlest Wiseman Christmas Pageant
December 3-11, 2011

The Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts performs The Littlest Wiseman, a pageant of the Nativity and presented as a Christmas gift to the community by the Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir and through a grant from the Walsh Foundation. This gift to Fort Worth has been in production for over 50 years and is an annual tradition for many families. Tickets are FREE, but it is recommended that you make reservations in advance.

:: Visit Santa at Sundance Square ~ Downtown Fort Worth

Visit Santa at Sundance Square.  The jolly old elf will be waiting to hear Christmas wishes at his home near the towering Sundance Square Christmas tree, adorned with thousands of lights, colorful balls and sparkling snowflakes. Kids can get their picture taken with Santa too! Free entertainment and live Christmas music will be performed throughout the day and evening (see the entertainment schedule here).

:: FREE Nash Farm Victorian Christmas in Grapevine

Get a taste of farm life just steps away from the heart of the city. Historic Nash Farm in Grapevine is hosting a FREE Victorian Christmas.  Christmas on the farm was a mostly hand-made affair. Wreaths and decorations made from local greenery, and late-harvest fruits and vegetables. Gifts were thoughtful and simple. Visit Nash Farm to make your own traditional ornaments like cotton-ball angels, paper chains, wrapped peanuts and popcorn strings!

Enjoy a fun breakfast with Santa in Grapevine at the Fire Station! Santa
will arrive by helicopter at 8:00 AM to join all those in attendance.

Bank of America’s 2011 national program, Museums On Us offers FREE  admission, the first full weekend of every month, to 120 participating museums throughout the U.S. This FREE Admission program takes place this weekend (December 3-4in Fort Worth at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
