There are oodles of special Veterans Day FREE dining and other give-away events in the coming days to honor of our veterans and active military service members. Note that many of these discounts extend beyond Veterans Day, November 11th and some are even offered year round. Most do require proof of military service (we’ve tried to provide details where we have them, but you might want to call before you go). Here’s the scoop:
FREE Meals & Other Discounts For

Eat FREE at Applebee’s ~ November 11
Military veterans and active-duty service members will be able to eat for free at any Applebee’s across the U.S. on Veterans Day, November 11. There will be seven entrée choices on the FREE menu, and guests will be asked to show proof of military service. A complete listing of all Applebee’s locations is available at applebees.com.
FREE Entree at BJ’s Restaurant ~ November 11 & 12
Veterans and those on active military duty, visit your local BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse on November 11 & 12 to get a FREE lunch entree or a one-topping mini or individual pizza for dinner.
FREE Burger at Champps Americana ~ November 11
Champps is celebrating our Veterans and Active Military by providing a FREE Champps Cheeseburger and Fries meal on November 11th. Proof of military service is required and is for dine-in only at participating locations. Go here to learn more.
FREE Pizza at California Pizza Kitchen ~ November 11
Veterans and active military will receive a free pizza of your choice on November 11th. Learn more here.
FREE Meal at Chili’s ~ November 11
Chilis is offering a FREE meal from a special menu to all veterans and active duty personnel on Veterans Day. This offer is available on November 11 at participating Chili’s in the U.S. only. Veterans and active duty military simply show proof of military service. Beverages and gratuity are not included.
FREE Pancakes at Denny’s ~ November 11
Denny’s is giving away a FREE all you can eat pancake breakfast to all active, retirees, and veterans with a valid military ID or proof of military service, from 6am – 2pm on Monday, November 11. Go here to learn more.
FREE Bagel at Einstein Bros ~ November 11
Einstein Bros wants to thank American troops this Veterans Day by offering a FREE Bagel and Shmear, or any other topping, to all active, inactive and retired military personnel on Monday, November 11. Learn more here.
Eat FREE at Golden Corral ~ November 11
Golden Corral’s annual Military Appreciation dinner will be held on Monday, November 11th, from 4 to 9 pm. The FREE dinner meal is a special “thank you tribute” to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to join Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation dinner. For more information go here .
FREE Doughnut & Coffee at Krispy Kreme ~ November 11
Krispy Kreme will give a free doughnut and coffee to veterans and active military in uniform (or with ID) on November 11.
FREE Meal at Olive Garden ~ November 11
Veterans and active military will receive a FREE meal on November 11th. Choose from a select list of entrees here. Family dining with them will also receive 10% Off their meal. Show a military ID or other proof of service to qualify.
FREE meal at On the Border ~ November 11
On the Border is giving veterans and active military who dine in the restaurant November 11 a free meal from its “create your own combo” menu.
FREE Appetizer & Drink at Outback Steakhouse ~ November 11
Outback Steakhouse will honor our heroes with a free Bloomin’ Onion appetizer and a beverage on November 11 in celebration of Veterans Day. And, because Veterans Day is not long enough to fully express the nation’s gratitude, Outback is honoring all service members with 10% off their meals Nov. 12 through Dec. 31. FREE Lunch at Texas Roadhouse ~ November 11
Texas Roadhouse locations across the country will provide a free lunch and beverage from a special menu to honor the men and women of our armed forces. 10% Off at Home Depot and Lowes ~ Year Round!
Use your military ID at any Home Depot or Lowes and receive a 10% discount on your purchases. The 10% military discount is available to: Active-duty military members, National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, honorably discharged veterans and immediate family members of all those groups. Customers requesting a discount must be able to show a valid military ID card or other proof of military service.
FREE Wedding Gown for Military Brides!
I LOVE this freebie ~ so fantastic on so many levels!! Select stores across the U.S. are offering military brides FREE wedding gowns through the non-profit group, Brides Across America. The gowns are samples and overstocks and worth $500 to $3000. There are not any stores in DFW participating (I hope that changes in the future), but there are a couple of stores taking part in the Houston area and one in San Antonio. Sea World is providing complimentary admission for active duty military, active members of a reserve or National Guard unit, and up to three direct dependents. Valid for ONE FREE single-day admission per person, per year, to SeaWorld in San Antonio and their sister adventure parks in other parts of the country. FREE Entrance Day at U.S. National Parks ~ November 9-11
To honor America’s service men and women, the U.S. National Parks will not charge entrance fees Veterans Day Weekend. Visitors to public recreation lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation are invited to take a day to honor and reflect on what our service men and women have done to maintain our freedom and keep peace around the world. Knott’s Berry Farm FREE Admission ~ Through January 5, 2014
Knott’s Berry Farm pays tribute to U.S. veterans, retired and current military personnel with free park admission during its Veteran’s celebration November 4, 2013 through January 5, 2014. This offer is valid to all past and present armed forces personnel and one guest. Six additional tickets may be purchased at a discounted rate of $22 each from November 4-27 and for $27 from November 28-January 5. Read more here.

I am so very thankful for every service member in our military who has served our great nation.
