Yesterday, we reported Southwest Airlines’ Low Fare Sale (read the post here). Not to be outdone, American Airlines joined the low-fare boxing match with their deals…some as low as $25 One-way! Note that these offers end at midnight TODAY (10/29) and are for travel Dec. 2 – Dec. 16, 2009 and Jan. 5 – Feb. 10, 2010.
After comparing each airlines’ fares for a few cities, we’ve made the following pros/cons general observations:
- Southwest Airlines: provides the better overall deals on their sale. Make sure you are OK with their general admission approach to no-assigned seating, though (sometimes difficult if you are traveling with children).
- American Airlines: values aren’t quite as good as SWA, but they do provide more discounted options by providing a wider variety of destinations and departure/return times in their sale (and you do get an assigned seat when you buy your ticket).
Tickets need to be purchased TODAY, October 29, 2009, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time to take advantage of the special pricing.
